We left Nashville early Wednesday morning and headed northwest. We decided to go through Paducah KY and then north to Peoria, IL. That was kind of off track but I have a couple of "Deuce Friends" in Peoria. I call Gary McCormack to be sure he was home, he was, so off we went. Gary has had many very nice deuces over the years. His latest is a beautiful 3 window. He has a cabriolet waiting in the wings, a roadster body still in the crate and is working on a 47 or so woodie. Chuck Grey was there so we next went to his place......tons of neat stuff. I think we killed over two hours there but was a great time.
We headed north to Rockford, got there about 7 PM and decided Madison was only an hour more. I arrived at my favorite LaQuinta only to find that it was booked......along with every other hotel in town. UW is having move in week, so every kid and their folks were in town. We finally found a hotel in Lodi, north of Madison, we arrived there about 10 PM. Now to find dinner....had to settle foe a piece of pizza at the gas station, before we finished the pizza, they were turning off the lights!!
Thursday it was onto the north to Bloomer, WI to drop off Greg at his place. Before that happened we stopped at two shops in Eau Claire. Saw some neat cars being built there. Finally got to Greg's place about noon, had a great lunch and I headed out towards Rice. I arrived home about 5 PM. The trip was 1696 miles...no problems, many fun times. Saw some old friends and met some new ones.
